This is what happens when you attempt to pose a slightly mobile 8 month old. Laying by the chalkboard like a good girl, not so much...Rolling around and laughing in your face as you consistently keep re positioning and trying again...BINGO!!! This little duck was ALL over the place and genuinely thought I had lost my marbles if I believed I was gonna get her to stay still for a half a minute. I just took what I could get. Her laughter really sorta broke my seriousness about the matter anyway!
8 months old really hasn't brought us a lot of changes. Big baby is still growing every day. No checkup until 9 months but I am pretty sure that she is very close to 20 pounds (based on my scales at home) YIKESSS! Aren't 12 month olds supposed to be 20 pounds?!?!? Haha! I just love her little chubby-ness but I am a little fearful of all the summer clothes I have pre-purchased, this may teach me a lesson! I can definitely say 8 months old brought on more of a schedule of feeding her baby foods. I was SOOO stressed over this, like, over stressed! But really, just like the doctor said, there's no science to it, you just gotta do what works for you. Right now, we are sending a jar of food with Presley for lunch at daycare and she gets a jar at dinner before her last bottle. I say jar but what she really loves, and works best for me, is the Ella's Kitchen food pouches. I love these handy little things most because they mix fruit and veggies. I think this is making her more open to trying all the veggies and so far she hasn't really turned one down...except spinach based combos, it seems she is no Popeye connoisseur. In addition to her liking the taste, they are all organic which makes mama happy. I have never been a big stickler for organic vs. non but I definitely like it for my kiddo. It seems the whole world is becoming more and more health conscience and I certainly commend that.
In her world of mobility she is rolling and backward crawling like crazy. She also does this maneuver where she goes continually from belly to booty until she makes a complete circle...ninja I tell ya! Even though she isn't crawling she manages to scoot, roll, or reach for just about anything she wants. We are also in the phase of rocking on all fours, and.....Planking.
NICE huh?! I knew she was athletic, round belly and all! Seriously though, I think this might be the coolest thing she has done yet!
Sleep schedule is all the same. Still sleeping like a rock. 7 or 7:30p-530 or 6am...and on the weekends she gets in bed with mama, daddy, and her bottle at 5 am and goes back to sleep until about 830 or 9am. We kinda love that part! Obviously she does too, as when Monday rolls around, she's halfway back asleep en route to the daycare. All I can say is, Man, it must be hard to be a baby : )
Presley turned 8 months old on Easter Sunday. How very cool that the day she turned 8 months old this was the same time last year that we agreed on naming her Presley May. Complete blog post on that here. Easter always brings a very profound joy to my heart thinking of how Jesus died for our sins. How imperfect we are yet he gave up his perfect life for us. Looking at Presley everyday reminds me of how much he loves us. How lucky I am that God chose me as her mommy. He loves me so much that he trusted me and gave me my hearts desire when only HE knows that I don't deserve it. What a miracle little children are. I look at this little baby and I still can't believe that she is mine. I truly love her so much it hurts and honestly....just being honest...I'm fearful everyday that God will take her back. I find myself consciously trying to bask in every single moment of her life. I try to tell myself, "Remember EXACTLY what this moment felt like, you won't get it back". While I will look forward to the developments and be thankful for changes, I will be sad with every milestone passed and every baby step forward. I know that I am fulfilling God's purpose every day just by raising her but I can't help but reminisce over days, weeks, and months that pass. Some day there will be more children to tend to, more activities to attend, and more on the social calendar than I can handle at one time. So for now, all I can do is breathe in every drop of her and take it one day at a time. Oh Lord am I thankful for every single day.
Here are some pics of what this silly child has been up to lately:
